POPE FRANCIS’ NEW ENCYCLICAL – DILEXIT NOS

Published on November 1, 2024

POPE FRANCIS’ NEW ENCYCLICAL ON THE SACRED HEART OF JESUS “Dilexit nos,” [He loved us] is the title of Pope Francis’ fourth Encyclical, in which he retraces the tradition and thought on “the human and divine love of the heart of Jesus Christ.” He calls for a renewal of authentic devotion to the Sacred Heart in order to avoid forgetting the tenderness of faith, the joy of serving, and the fervour of our serving others.

In this text Pope Francis challenges the world which seems to have lost its heart, but which can change by returning to the heart. In the Sacred Heart of Jesus we find a synthesis of the Gospel, the experience of ‘a love that gives itself as drink’ (cf. John 7:37-39). Devotion to the Heart of Christ sends us to others with a mission to make the world fall in love with the Divine love that saves us.
