The Meals on Wheels service in Monkstown is organised and co-ordinated by Noreen O’Sullivan. Meals are delivered to between 10 and 20 people, six days per week. Usually, two volunteers work together, one driving and one delivering the meals. The meals are collected at the National Rehabilitation Hospital on Rochestown Avenue at 12 noon, Monday to Saturday. The time involved is under two hours. Most volunteers commit to one day per month (two hours) but some volunteers offer to work more frequently than one day per month.
Noreen provides an easy to follow route guide which greatly facilitates the delivery of the meals as quickly as possible to ensure they remain warm.
Volunteers are always needed. If anybody would like to become involved in this important community service, contact details can be left with Anne in the Parish Office, with an indication of which day or days suit best.
